I first met Cathy and Salv about three years ago
when they booked me to shoot their wedding. We had a meeting, got excited and
everything was great. But TA DA... life
decided to be annoying as it so often does, and sadly their date had to be
postponed much to their disappointment. But here we were, three years down the
line and Cathy could finally put on that incredible dress, don that exquisite
ring and marry the man she loves. I’m not sure, but having to wait for so very
long must have made it all the more sweeter. The weather was glorious (perhaps a
little too glorious for me and my trusty camera) but hey, to be the bride who
wakes up to a sunny day on her wedding must feel very special and something akin to Christmas and a lottery win!
Father Elio took the service and we love Father
Elio because I didn't have to 'go long', I could do whatever I liked. I asked
him, 'What are your rules?' He shrugged, smiled and said, 'We 'ave no
rules.’ True Italian style ;-) I love it!
After the service everyone headed off to the
super quaint Compton Village Hall for an enormous feast. And when I say
enormous, I mean, ENORMOUS. They’re Mediterranean after all and us Meds just
LUURRRVVEE our food. Four courses, shortly followed by pizza and bacon rolls.
The pudding? Uh huh! Three puddings! On one plate! I sadly had to decline
courses 3-4 as a ‘napping’ wedding photographer in the corner is not a good
look!
Ooh yes, throughout the meal sporadic foot stamping
and cutlery clinking would erupt and the bride and groom would have to get up
and have a kiss. Like a Mexican wave for weddings – amazing! Salv gave a wonderful speech, beautifully
dedicated to his new wife and his loved ones and those important people who
sadly couldn’t be there. His best man David must also be congratulated on a very
funny show-and-tell of Salv's finest moments and love of food. It was side splitting
and brilliantly executed. I especially loved the story about the train!!!! If
anyone is wondering what the ‘Fart with Confidence’ picture is, it’s to do with
the train story and it’s hilarious! I’ll leave it to your imaginations.
A really beautiful part of this wedding and a
true indication of what a lovely couple Cathy and Salv are was wrapped up
nicely in the second ‘first dance’ song, You are so Beautiful... it was stunning! But this time, it wasn't the dulcet tones of Joe Cocker, but those of Bruce Jenner (one of their best friends) who lives in Oz and sadly couldn’t be there. What an
amazing gesture and thank goodness he is incredibly talented… could’ve been a tad awkward
otherwise ;-)!
I must say Cathy looked picture perfect in her
dress and having the sweetest most, gentle nature makes her all the more
beautiful in my opinion and of course, lest we forgot the dashing groom, Salv,
he looked so handsome and very cool walking out with his groomsmen… perhaps not
when they put cones on his head, but what else are groomsmen for? It
makes perfect sense when you see a cone ;-).
To finish, I would like to wish this wonderful
couple all the very best for their future together. You waited so long for this
special day and I hope it was everything you dreamed and more. You were so lovely to work with and your friends
and family are a true credit to you both – they couldn’t have been more
welcoming to me and my camera if they tried. Bravo all!
So here’s to you both - raising my virtual glass
- may you venture forth together, be happy, eat merry, love deeply and remember
to always keep the Nutella on hand and fear not the fart ;-)!
My love and best wishes to you both…
Loukie xx
